Our Journey to Employee Ownership

Employee Owned company | Founders Julie Hudak and Tara DeringorOn April 30th, 2025, TEIS Early Intervention became a 100% employee-owned company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This milestone represents the natural evolution of our founding mission: “Empower all of those whose lives we touch—starting with our employees, families, children, and the community—to reach their full potential.”

Why Employee Ownership?

When founders Tara Deringor and Julie Hudak established TEIS Early Intervention in 2004, they built more than a company. They built a community dedicated to helping children with developmental delays thrive. After two decades of growth, tens of thousands of families served, and countless success stories, they faced an important decision about TEIS’s future.

Rather than pursuing private equity or corporate buyouts, Tara and Julie chose employee ownership. As they put it, creating an ESOP was simply “the right thing to do.”

What This Means

For Our Employees

Every team member—from therapists who work directly with children to the support staff who keep everything running smoothly—now has a stake in TEIS’s success. Some of our employee-owners have been with us for over 20 years, and this transition recognizes their dedication and ensures they share in the company’s future prosperity.

For Our Families

Employee ownership means the TEIS Early Intervention Model will continue unchanged. The same compassionate, high-quality early intervention services that families have come to trust will remain our priority—now backed by employee-owners who are more invested than ever in positive outcomes.

For Our Future

By transitioning to employee ownership, Tara and Julie have ensured that TEIS will continue serving children and families with developmental delays for generations to come. This structure preserves our mission while empowering those who carry it out every day.

Our Commitment Continues

As employee-owners, we’re not just invested in our work—we’re invested in each other and in every family we serve. This transition reinforces what has always been true at TEIS: when we put people first, everyone reaches their full potential.

The TEIS Difference

  • Mission-Driven: Our founding values guide every decision
  • Community-Focused: We’re your neighbors, invested in local families
  • Quality-Assured: Employee-owners deliver their best because your success is our success
  • Future-Secured: Our structure ensures continuity of care for years to come

“They have always reinvested in their employees and TEIS, and creating an ESOP was the best way to carry out their mission of putting their employees first.”

Continuing a Tradition of Excellence

In 2012 and 2013, TEIS was ranked 2nd and 1st for companies with 50-150 employees for the Post-Gazette’s Top Workplaces. As mother’s themselves, Julie and Tara know how important it is to have a good work/life balance. At TEIS, there is also a strong emphasis on continuing education, beyond the requirements of the state and professional organizations. This in turn, is reflected in the impact our employees have on the families we serve.

Parents report choosing TEIS due to the highly trained therapists on our team.We thank the families we have served and are serving for their continued support of our efforts and the many recommendations that they make to friends and acquaintances.

Thank you for letting TEIS be a part of your child’s life!
